Please Note: this version has sold. There will be minor variations in the can and rust patterns but it will be very similar to the one pictured.

This particular piece is cast in silicone and is very durable and moves a bit when you touch the piece. I love silicone because you can interact with the piece a lot more because you don’t have to worry as much about rubbing the paint off the piece. It can be gently handled but shouldn’t be pulled on or intentionally scratched or you might damage the piece.

This particular piece is cast in silicone and is very durable and moves a bit when you touch the piece. I love silicone because you can interact with the piece a lot more because you don't have to worry as much about rubbing the paint off the piece. It can be gently handled but shouldn't be pulled on or intentionally scratched or you might damage the piece. This little guy is sad because of how much pollution and trash is in his environment now. Octopuses are very adaptable and he's made this rusty can his home though. I've become increasingly bothered by the amount of garbage that is making its way into our oceans and have decided to do a few different sculpts this year with themes centered around being mindful of what we use and throw out. I'm trying to reuse a lot more plastic materials like mixing cups multiple times as I work rather than throwing them out. I'm also trying to repurpose a lot of things that I might otherwise be tempted to throw away. In fact, the can this little guy is perched on was from a wonderful meal my wife made for us a few weeks ago. I applied some iron coating and used one of the patinas I normally use when ageing and coloring bronze finishes. It worked really well to give this can a rusty, old appearance. For size reference, the can is one of those large 29oz cans and not a small soup can. The octopus has a diameter of around 4 1/2 inches and sits about 3 1/2 inches tall. The total piece size is: Height: 5 1/2 inches Width: 4 1/2 inches Length: 4 3/4 inches
