Vegvisir Sculpture Viking Compass – Limited Edition

Vegvisir Sculpture Viking Compass – Limited Edition

$90.00$135.00

This is my Limited Edition version of a Vegvisir which is a Wayfarer’s Compass, it is also referred to as the Viking compass.”If this sign is carried, one will never lose one’s way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known.” It is found in the Huld manuscript. Although the Vegvisir is probably a more modern magical symbol and not an actual Viking age symbol, the ideas it stands for are relevant, necessary, and powerful in all eras.

I love the idea of this type of symbol and think it is just as valid today as it ever was. We really don’t know the best path to take right now with so many things happening that we have no control over. We will get through it though!

I really enjoy the playing with natural forms and combining them into interesting flows of shapes. The fallow deer style antlers mixed with boar tusks combine into something primitive yet elegant I think.

This piece is cast in polyurethane resin and available in a variety of finishes.

There will only be 50 of these pieces produced so don’t miss out!

They will be available in Painted, Metallic Finish, and Painted with Runes carved into them. The one pictured has the runes for Thor and Odin carved in Younger Futhark runes. I can carve a person’s name or individual runes in either Elder Futhark or Younger Futhark runes. For Norse mythological names I will only carve the Younger Futhark runes as it is more historically accurate. I can also carve simple symbols as well upon request.

PLEASE NOTE: when you purchase the version with runes, please remember to contact me via email about what you’d like me to carve.

The piece measures 16 inches long, 5 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/4 inches deep. It has a hole drilled in the back so you can hang it on a nail. The piece is very light, so even a small nail in drywall will hold it up with no problem.

Thanks so much for supporting my work,
Arend
